Few know the bonefish and permit-filled waters around Sandy Point better than Ricardo Burrows. For over 20 years, he’s lived and fished them. Today, he’s the head guide and owner of the Rickmon Bonefish Lodge, an picturesque lodge on the southwest side of Abaco. Here, some of the planet’s best bonefishing waits and several daily flights from South Florida get you there quickly and easily. The comfortable 11 -bedroom lodge opened in the winter of 2000, and a small bonefish flat sits right in front of the lodge.
Along with Ricardo, the lodge employs eight to ten of the most-experienced Sandy Point guides. Most of the flats are easy to wade, with bonefish averaging three to five pounds, and some going as big as fourteen. Snapper, jacks and barracuda also swim these waters, ensuring every trip to Sandy Point is as full of fond memories as it is fish.
